You’re definitely not the only one Kaysie. I tend to be a social people-person who loves to talk…and talk…and talk (very fast too!). Many times I’ve wished I’d held my tongue and simply listened to what God or others are saying. It can be so hard to do sometimes, but with the Lord’s help I know I can do it. Thanks for the great insight – it really hit home with me!

Amen, Kaysie! I have the same struggle. I hate awkward silences, so in fear of one I just talk and talk and talk, never letting the other person have a chance to offer their own opinions, hopes and dreams. Indeed… I do need to just “shut my mouth”!

One of the keys to listening is by being still! And that can be very hard to do, especially in the fast paced society we live in today. Yet oftentimes, the only way we can hear others (and Christ) is by shutting our mouths and paying attention to the small whisperings we hear. Some of the best things in life are in the softness, the whispers, the shy voices…..
