Song of the Dawn: A Poem

The sun is tired and falls beneath
and night awakes to suggest defeat.
Fear and failure choke my peace,
a tearless cry just wants release.

Pain from blindness breaks me down
only at dawn shall I be found.
Reaching, yearning for such a time,
ignites a spark that renews my mind

I fight to see the Light ahead,
that everyone else assumes is dead.
My heart yells “no” oh just wait…
I hold my breath, please don’t faint.

Just when my eyes begin to fall
a Whisper comes from o’er the wall.
Sweet singing and it seems to grow
It appears to be the rooster’s crow.

Even though the road was long,
my ears already know this song.
It comforted me in darkest nights
telling me the Dawn is bright.

And here it is – a warm embrace,
the Son has finally found it’s place
over my head and around my heart
preparing me for it all to start.

A ray of Light is born so tiny
but rapidly grows to become a mighty
world of warmth and precious feeling
peace and joy, love and singing.

I wrote this poem a while back in one of those “weeping in the night” moments. Joy does come in the morning, and I wanted to relate that through this poem.
