Why I Blog
(In honor of my new blog makeover…)
To me, blogging (or all writing for that matter) is more than putting words on a computer for the world wide web to see. Blogging is a opportunity given by God to express our thoughts, feelings, and experiences as a testament, an “open journal”, for the entire world to read and discover more about a life lived. It is an easily available attestation of what the living God is transforming in my heart and in my life.
I have a clear purpose for blogging, and that is to bring glory to God in all that I do. I blog and write to monument God’s faithfulness and declare His amazing love for mankind – and tell of all He has done for me. And I pray that it encourages others along the way.
I would like to share a quote written by my wise Mother about writing (which can be translated into blogging too):
“Without writing…what would we truly have? The Bible? The profound novels? The journals of great people who have gone before us?
Writing is history in a sense…a way of expressing our thoughts and our hearts for the world to see and to prayerfully be affected and challenged.
If we choose not to share our life experiences, not our heart, then we have chosen to exclude the world and others from ever experiencing what God is showing us as we make this journey of serving Him and possibly what that journey may look like… some may be similar, others quite different, yet all is orchestrated by the hand of our God for His purposes. Please I ask of you at this time to journal (or blog) your thoughts and your life so that others may see, hear, and understand the marvelous works that our Lord is doing among His people.”
I truly desire to be transparent and humble to let you behold the workings of God in my life with grace, honesty, and clear purpose. Thank you for joining me on this journey.

I'm Kaysie, 22. Jesus follower. Lover of sunshine, trees, hot tea, books, music, family, the gospel, poetry and Barnes and Nobles. Has a weird obsession with paper. Over-analyzes almost everything. Adores simplicity. Lucky for you.

Kaysie, I really appreciate your desire to share your heart for the glory of God. It has been a great encouragement to me! I am sure I will enjoy what you have to offer here at this “new” blog (though I kinda miss the old one
). Keep up the great work!
I think perhaps I should take your advice and begin to write more…I do think it would be helpful to chronicle God’s workings in my life. Hope your day is wonderful!
Rosanne, thank you. You are such a great encouragement.
I know it will be hard to get used to the “new” blog, I had the other template for a really long time. But I hope everyone adjusts to this one ok.
Yes, I would encourage you to write more! I think writing is so important. You won’t regret it.
So, is everything all set up and raring to go with the new design? I hope you enjoy it.
You are blogging for all the right reasons….and God can be glorified and magnified in the “everyday” things as well =)
Thanks Ella. That means a lot.
Like the new blog. Both you and your mom have such wise words. Thanks for taking time to share them with the rest of us.
I like the new blog layout! I just changed mine not too long ago, so I’m still getting used to mine, too! And I loved what your mom said about writing. You’ve already blessed me with your blog. It’s so nice to be able to stumble across a Christian website/blog that truly helps and encourages you in your walk with God, and is fun to read. Thanks, Kaysie!
Bonita, thank you. I am happy to share, and thank you for listening.
Arianna, your blog is really cute! It is fun to change it up every once in awhile.
I am glad you are encouraged, and I hope you continue visiting.
Thank you for your sweet words. I am so thankful for my readers, for it would be lonely to share if no one was listening!
I totally agree with you (and your mom). Writing is such a wonderful way of communicating and even leaving a legacy. What we say in ink can be preserved for very many years. Often times what we write communicated the deepest parts of us, the parts we can not always express in spoken words.
For me, I blog praying that God will use it to reach people and to speak to them. Even if it is only one person and it only happens once, it is worth all the time and effort if it can encourage, convict, strengthen, make someone think, or touch just one person. It always is so humbling when someone can get something out of my meager writing, it shows that God will work through our inabilities to show his glory.
You have been doing such a great job with your blogging Kaysie. God has used you so much in so many of our lives because of your constant testimony and encouragement. God bless you Kaysie!!!
I agree with your mom – the only way we truly know about our past as a nation, and as a people, is for personal histories to be recorded along with the official news reports.
Think if the story of Nazi Germany were only told by facts & battles and uniforms — if there were no Anne Frank or countless other survivor stories to personalize it?
I have a personal blog, beginning in 2002. It helps me, as I grow older, to remember not to retrace my steps on rocky ground, rather to push forward and continue on the path God is clearing in front of me.
Olivia, beautifully spoken. Sometimes the only way to “get out” what we are feeling is through ink. I know this is the case for me…
Your blog is already such a light to the world. God is truly using you.
I appreciate your sweet words, that is such an encouragement to me. God bless you too!
Jillian, great example! How would we know about anything in the past but for writers who took time to record history?
Blogs are a great way to pen history too. They help us grow, like you said. I am so thankful for the opportunity to write freely about what God is showing me.
I love the new look! And I’m glad you blog! I can’t even imagine where I’d be without writing…very confused.
Blessings,
Abigail @ Pearls and Diamonds
You certainly do blog for the honor and glory of God. Your blog has blessed me and encouraged me in so many ways! May all praise be to Him! Keep it up, Kaysie – you’re a true kindred spirit!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your insights on my blessing book idea. By journaling our thoughts and prayers, as well as the blessings that God has opened our eyes to, we have a written record (a monument, if you will) that shows the faithfulness of God. When I look back at my blessing book, I am reminded of the way God showed himself faithful during the trying time of unemployment. Sadly, if I hadn’t written down many of those things, I would have forgotten them. So, in a way, I look at writing as a legacy that I leave to those walking behind me.
Blessings,
Ella’s mom
Abigail, amen!
Sara, thank you. I feel the same way about your blog. Truly a kindred spirit.
Ella’s Mom, I am glad you stopped by! Yes the journalling idea is wonderful and thank you for sharing about it. I have had instances in my life that I am so thankful I wrote about it in my journal. Very important. Like you said, it is a great legacy.
I do love hearing about what God is doing in other people’s lives through blogging; that’s been such a blessing to me.
Very nice! I like it. For some reason the picture on this post is not showing the middle half of it on either of my computers… maybe a coding issue, haha, I have no idea.
I love it!
I really enjoyed visiting your blog/website today! It was a blessing to discover! I found you via the search engines while searching keyword Alabaster Box. You’re doing such a great work here! I love writing to encourage people as well! I was inspired to see some of the features your blog offers. I am interested in relaunching and developing a new blog template for my business and ministry–they’re really one and the same, you know, when one seeks to glorify God in all they do. Keep up the great work! May God continue to bless you. You are a blessing to His Kingdom. And I really appreciate your heart to minister to young women.
